Color Psychology Matters

Have you ever wondered why fast food chains often are brightly colored with red and yellow? These colors tend to stimulate our appetite to the benefit of the restaurant.

When selecting colors in your space, you want to consider the feelings and emotions they evoke. In many cultures red means danger or stop, yellow means cheerful, green means nature or a cool peaceful environment, and blue is restful and can also imply dignity.

"Consider the use of the space so that it aligns with the feelings you want to have in the space".

Consider the use of the space so that it aligns with the feelings you want to have in the space. Cool colors such as blue, green, and violet can make you feel restful and quiet. Warm colors like like red, yellow or orange are active and stimulating.

Keep in mind that the intensity of the color matters as well. The intensity can be used to make spaces look larger or smaller with lighter colors making the room look larger and dark smaller.
